TAN YAO CONG

With a rare talent for teamwork and managing diverse musical personalities, Yao Cong works closely with the MFO’s Managing Director and Music Director in the artistic and administrative management of the MFO’s most important asset – its valued team of talented and versatile musicians. Also an active performer and music educator himself, Yao Cong epitomizes the modern classically-trained musician who is able to successfully apply his musical training in multiple domains.

 

Prior to returning to Singapore, Yao Cong performed extensively in London working under conductors such as Vasily Petrenko, James Gaffigan, James Macmillan, James Judd, and collaborated with artists including Stefan Jackiw, Spanish Brass and Boston Brass. 

 

A recipient of the Loke Cheng-Kim Foundation Scholarship, Yao Cong studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama under the tutelage of Mr. Patrick Harrild, Principal Tuba of the London Symphony Orchestra.
