An NAC-MOE Milestone Performing Arts Based Learning Programme

Concert Duration: 75 minutes

Curious to find out what happens when classical music meets popular music?

KoFlow-MFO Reload: A Turntable-Orchestra Programme is an educational concert specially designed for secondary school students. Fusing popular culture and electronic music with a symphony orchestra, students will be introduced to a diverse range of music styles present in Singapore's music scene.

Students' learning is also enhanced through a student performance guide, as well as pre- and post-concert teaching resources designed to complement the MOE Lower Secondary Music Syllabus.

Learning Objectives for Students:

  1. Develop an understanding of how artists bridge musical ideas between two genres - classical and popular music.

  2. Develop an understanding of the sound qualities of instrumental ensembles and their roles in music arrangements.

  3. Develop an awareness of music in the local scene, including musicians / composers / performers.

  4. Be introduced to popular music and its related culture.

  5. Develop an understanding of the stylistic elements of improvisation in classical and popular music.
